Arsalan & Lea reflect on their tenure on the AUCAA Board
A message from Arsalan:
“When the opportunity to apply to be a member of the AUCAA Board presented itself, it was one I decided to pursue immediately, not only because I am a proud Alumnus of the university, but also because I believed that working for the AUCAA would be an extremely enriching experience. A way for me to give back to the community and help the subsequent generations of AUC students. That was way back in 2021, and even at the time, I could not have imagined how rewarding the AUCAA would be.
It has been a privilege to serve on the board since December 2021, and looking back on it now, I would like to think that I left my mark. The challenges presented to us - of engaging a very young alumni body, and attempting to foster an interconnected and thriving alumni community, were amongst the most difficult to overcome in my short professional career. These are ongoing struggles, and challenges that will be passed on to the next generation of board members, but I believe that the AUCAA is well poised for success in the coming years. A key mission of mine was creating the alumni mentorship program - and though I have laid the foundations, I hope someone can pick up on my work and take it to new heights.
We are a very very young alumni association, but I see nothing but potential in our shared future. I hope that each of you - both current students & alumni - do your part in fostering a university community that we can be proud of. One that celebrates our differences and unites us in our goal of creating a better world. Bit by bit, we can build it together - that is my belief. The rest is up to you.
Signing off.
Your Treasurer and Board Member,
Arsalan Ali Aga - Class of 2020"
A message from Lea:
“I served as this year's AUC Student Association representative on the AUCAA Board, thoroughly enjoying my work with the Board and connecting with alumni at events like the “FuckUp Night.” I am deeply grateful to my fellow board members for always making me and, therefore, the student perspective feel heard and valued. I am excited to pass on my role to Nimorika, the next student representative, and look forward to the growing collaboration between AUCAA and AUCSA. This relationship will continue to foster interactions between students and alumni, broadening students' perspectives for life after AUC and helping alumni stay connected with their university.”
